Milnsbridge
It is a busy local shopping and commercial centre situated around a bridge over the River Colne.
The Huddersfield Narrow Canal and
Longwood Viaduct carrying the main trans-Pennine railway line along the Colne Valley is a dominant feature of the village. However, Milnsbridge and Longwood station closed back in 1968 as a result of cuts in some of the stations along the line, which also once had four tracks but now has only two.

Milnsbridge House survives but shows little of its former splendour having itself been put to industrial use for more than 100 years.
Harold Wilson, who was Prime Minister from 1964 to 1970 and 1974 to 1976 and later Baron Wilson of Rievaulx, attended primary school in Milnsbridge having been born in nearby
