Tandem

Wakefield Road, TandemTandem is a district of Huddersfield about 2 miles east of the town centre.

The area had been developed with industrial buildings by the end of the 19th century. This was before the growth of its now larger neighbour Waterloo across the Waterloo Bridge over Fenay Beck. The land of its former works has been redeveloped as a retail park and sports centre while a newer industrial estate has been added to the area.

The area was for nearly 80 years the home of Huddersfield Rugby Union Football Club, which relocated to Lockwood in 1997.

Shops at the Gallagher Retail Park include an Aldi, M&S Food Hall and Home Bargains.

Tandem has a burger restaurant and takeaway.

Total Fitness operate a sports and fitness centre, including a gym, pools, saunas, squash courts and a cafe. The neighbouring Soccer City building has five-a-side football facilities and a function room.
