Wooldale
Wooldale is a village about 5 miles south of Huddersfield (6 miles by road) and about one mile north east of Holmfirth.
Wooldale occupies a hilltop position on the eastern side of the Holme Valley on an old route between Holmfirth and New Mill, the centre of the village being bypassed by the present A635 New Mill Road.
Quaker Meeting House, Wooldale
While Wooldale is an old village and the centre of one of the old 'townships' of the Holme Valley, it has expanded with much new development around its edges since the latter part of the 20th century.
Quakerism came to Wooldale in the 1650s. The Grade II listed meeting house at Pell Lane in the village originally dates from the late 17th century and was repaired and enlarged to its present size in 1783.
