First game for new Town manager
September 25, 2023
A week after the announcement that Neil Warnock would be leaving the club, Huddersfield Town have a Monday evening match (September 25, 2023) at Coventry City with new manager Darren Moore at the helm.Birmingham-born Darren Moore was announced as the new Huddersfield Town manager after Neil Warnock took charge of his last game at the club on Wednesday night.
Moore was most recently manager at Sheffield Wednesday where he led the team back from League One into the Championship. Before that he was at West Bromwich Albion and then Doncaster Rovers, both teams of his earlier playing career, which, among several clubs, also included time at Bradford City and Barnsley. He also made appearances for the Jamaica national team.
Huddersfield Town kept the score level at 2-2 in their home battle against Stoke City last Wednesday.
The Terriers got ahead after 31 minutes with a goal from Matty Pearson, but Stoke responded two minutes later to keep the score at 1-1 at half-time. Stoke struck again after 62 minutes, but Town managed to pull the scores equal again with a Jack Rudoni goal after 68 minutes.
It was the last match for manager Neil Warnock after Town announced last Monday that he had agreed to step aside as the club was ready to make a longer-term managerial appointment.
Neil Warnock returned for a second spell at the club as Town's third manager of last season and, with assistant Ronnie Jepson, successfully rescued them from the brink of relegation to keep them in the Championship.
Town go into the Coventry City game in 17th place in the Championship and with a golden opportunity to jump to the top half of the league in 12th place if they were to pull off a win. The match against the ‘sky blues’ will see Town wearing this season’s black third strip for the first time.
