Funding to help park safety January 21, 2022

Greenhead ParkKirklees Council has recently announced that parks will benefit from funding it will receive from the government's Safer Streets Fund.

The £46,000 coming to Kirklees will be split between two of the authority's parks, Greenhead Park in Huddersfield and Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury.

The money will initially help in the drawing up of plans aiming to stop offences and reduce safety fears. Practical spending might include cutting back vegetation, better lighting, new signs and other crime prevention activities.

The Kirklees money is a 7% part of £655,000 awarded across West Yorkshire as the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, West Yorkshire Police and district councils jointly bid to the Government's Safer Streets Fund.
