Consultation on taxi rules in Kirklees October 12, 2021

Hackney carriages in St George's SquareKirklees Council is carrying out public consultation (until December 6, 2021) on taxis as it proposes changes to its Hackney Carriage and Private Licensing Policy in the light of new Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards from the Department for Transport.

The new standards discuss principally the protection of children and vulnerable adults and the requirement of local authorities to use their licensing powers to deal with this, but also contain guidance on such matters as how overt CCTV surveillance can be lawfully used in compliance with personal data law and rules.

Kirklees residents, taxi providers, relevant authorities and councillors can all take part in the consultation which runs until Monday December 6, 2021. Other local authorities are having similar consultations.

At the time of writing further information could be found at this  Kirklees Council - Taxis webpage.
