It is based mostly in modern blocks and recently-converted mill buildings on one campus alongside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

The university has seen the creation of some inspiring architecture among its modern expansion which in recent years has included an upgraded Student Central building, a newly-built Creative Arts Building, Business School, 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, a new sports hall, new Oastler and Barbara Hepworth Buildings and the Jo Cox More in Common Centre.

The University continues to expand with two buildings now open at its new National Health Innovation Campus in nearby Southgate near the junction with Leeds Road. This will allow it to expand its nursing and health courses.

There has also been recent growth in the number of student accommodation buildings close to the campus.
