Huddersfield from Cowcliffe Hill RoadSt Hilda's Church, CowcliffeCowcliffe is a village district overlooking Huddersfield, just under two miles north-north-west of the town centre.

The village is situated up the steep Cowcliffe Hill Road leading from the districts of Birkby and Fartown.

While there had been a long-established village at the top of the hill, it was expanded with much new housing during the 20th century. With a boundary of woodland, the residential area reaches to the edges of Fixby Park at Fixby, the grounds of Fixby Hall which is now the home of Huddersfield Golf Club.
