Trains towards Manchester

In the June - December 2024 timetable there are generally four trains per hour between Huddersfield and a Manchester station.

At least one train per hour (two at peak times) is a stopping service between Huddersfield and Manchester Piccadilly, calling at Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield, Mossley and Stalybridge.

Patterns and destinations of stopping trains have changed little from the previous timetable following big changes last December.

The main change in this timetable is that more of the Manchester Piccadilly to Huddersfield stopping services will be extended beyond Huddersfield to Deighton, Mirfield, Wakefield Kirkgate, Normanton, Castleford and York. There were just four peak return journeys in the last timetable, but two more journeys in the June - December 2024 timetable means that the hourly Manchester - Huddersfield service will be extended every two hours through the day to operate via Wakefield to York. Additionally there is a late evening service from Manchester Piccadilly to Wakefield Kirkgate and a Manchester-bound early morning journey from Wakefield Kirkgate.

Marsden stationThe hourly stopping pattern is increased at peak times to half-hourly. These additional trains are mostly Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds services continuing non-stop after Huddersfield to Leeds but running as an all-stops service coming from Leeds. There are one or two exceptions with one train continuing beyond Leeds to York and one to Scarborough and one morning Manchester-bound train originating in Hull.

Reaching stops between Huddersfield and Leeds will during the day require a change to Hull-bound trains at Huddersfield. In the evening a Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds service operates via all stops in both directions.

Daytime hourly trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Hull will generally run as expresses between Manchester and Huddersfield.

Hourly trains between Manchester Airport and Saltburn (calling at Manchester Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Manchester Victoria) will generally run as expresses between Manchester and Huddersfield.

Hourly trains between Liverpool and Newcastle (calling at Manchester Victoria) will generally run as expresses between Manchester and Huddersfield, calling only at Stalybridge.

PLEASE NOTE: This travel study is provided for basic guidance and indicates the general daytime pattern of Monday to Saturday trains. We recommend checking your route on journey planners before travelling, particularly in the evening and on Sundays or when services are disrupted by engineering work or strikes.
