Hourly stopping trains run between Huddersfield and Leeds calling at all the above stations.

As in the previous timetable, these stations are generally served in the May 2025 to December 2025 timetable by stopping shuttle trains between Huddersfield and Leeds rather than being stops for some through services.

The trains are now operated by TransPennine Express and by Northern on alternate hours.

Deighton and Mirfield has a more frequent half-hourly direct service to and from Huddersfield as a result of the TransPennine Express service operating on the line towards York via Wakefield and Castleford. See our Wakefield connection page for details.

There are usually four fast trains an hour between Huddersfield and Leeds running at approximately 15-minute intervals. Eastbound destinations are Newcastle, Redcar Central or Saltburn, Scarborough and Hull.

Dewsbury is a call for two of those four express trains, generally those heading towards Redcar Central or towards Scarborough. Those are in addition to the all-stops train.

Between the hourly direct stopping trains from Huddersfield, there is the possibility of reaching Batley and Morley stations by changing at Dewsbury from TransPennine Express to Northern Calder Valley line trains, effectively providing a half-hourly frequency.

Services at stations along this route will have various levels of disruption due to engineering work when Huddersfield station is closed, when lines between Huddersfield and Dewsbury are closed or when lines between Ravensthorpe and Leeds are closed.

PLEASE NOTE: This travel study is provided for basic guidance and principally indicates the general daytime pattern of Monday to Saturday trains. We recommend checking your route on journey planners before travelling, particularly in the evening and on Sundays or when services are disrupted by engineering work or strikes.
