Brockholes

BrockholesBrockholes Methodist Church, Oakes LaneOld bridge over River Holme, BrockholesBrockholes is a small village in the Holme Valley about 4 miles south of Huddersfield town centre (5 miles by road). It is about 1.5 miles north-north-east of Holmfirth (2.5 miles by road).

The village is mostly residential but has areas of light industrial units, mainly on the site of Rock Mills, which was a large textile mill in the village.

The village has had a railway station on the Huddersfield to Sheffield line since 1850. It was also the location of the junction of a branch line to Holmfirth which also opened that year. The branch line provided a direct route of about a mile-and-a-half between Brockholes and Holmfirth station, but closed in 1965.
