Lepton
While now largely a dormitory village, Lepton originally grew around industries including cloth-weaving, coal-mining, farming, a brickworks and firework-making.
Lepton is surrounded mostly by agricultural land with Lepton Great Wood to the south.

Although there are various shops dotted around Lepton, the village centre is in modern buildings around The Square at Highgate Lane with shops extending along Highgate Lane towards The Sun Inn. They include a bakery, newsagent, hairdresser, Co-operative food store and a funeral home. There is also a Spar shop at a petrol filling station on the A642 Wakefield Road which by-passes the centre of Lepton.Lepton post office is in Highgate Lane.
